The project consisted of a basement carpark and 3 levels of occupied space above. The ground floor includes an auditorium, commercial kitchen, dining area and a three level atrium entry foyer. The first and second floors include classrooms, offices, administration areas and amenities. The project involved the extensive use of Australian produced materials with an emphasis on locally produced new growth timber utilized for balustrading, sun shading, wall and ceiling cladding. The building was also designed to incorporate many ‘green’ characteristics including natural ventilation to all areas to alleviate the need for air-conditioning.
