The new Kurrajong Building marks the evolution of teaching facilities with classes now including entrepreneurialism, coding and social media marketing. The new facilities for the Junior School at Barker College includes a ground floor external suspended play area and classrooms over a lower carpark and an upper floor level of classrooms and administrative area.
The design is based on the Reggio Emilia philosophy of learning that the school follows in students’ early years which embraces building a strong learning community. The new classrooms will look out onto a type of “village square” where children and adults, including parents can gather.
This new building will add to Barker College’s existing junior school, and will see all junior students (from Pre-K to year 6) educated in the same campus.
